Tonight, it's dutch; we're equals now
And walk yourself through the door
Your arms can hold it just like mine
Sorry to be a bore!
Pull your own chair out to sit
And order what you want.
If I kiss your hand, will you blush and smile
Or is it a harrassing taunt?
I'd love to listen to you all night
Yet we must split all conversations
Tell me all about your fact-filled day
But you better listen to my frustrations
The meal was good; it's time to leave
I would walk you to your car
But you don't need my manly protection
Go it alone, no matter how far.
Tomorrow we shall meet again
On OUR terms; not mine or yours
You can't have this world both ways,
Sometimes, men open doors.

:) Wonderful, Paul! Succinct and with just the right "bite"! It made me smile, thinking of all the different phases men/women have come through! Enjoyed very much.

Thanks for your positive review of my poetry. It made me curious to read yours. I enjoyed it so much...and of course it is so true for so many...very good work! clever marriage of snappy repartee and humor!
