The other day I saw, as I walked
An older couple, side by side
Holding hands as they talked.
I thought of you and me
Holding hands through life
In times of joy and, yes, even adversity.
Slowly and gently, the years will fall
Over us, like crimson rose petals.
And no matter what, through it all
We’ll be together, as lovers and friends
Embraced by love, treasuring the moments
Holding hands, to the end.
