check my poem, "Choose Sally", it is featured in my collection "China Tower" by Sha Yan.
The Saturday afternoon
When cherry blossoms,
Cherish the mood of the lovers.
The sunshine warmth the restaurant.
And the slight wind chill in mid-April
Slightly blows on their faces.
The filled lunch room
Enchanted with quiet chatters.
Sally was quiet eating.
Asked she suddenly my most importance.
Answered I immediately with smile,
“Freedom,” without further thoughts.
Maybe she wants me to say “her”,
Maybe I wasn’t aware.
Choice was spoken out.
Choose the way will alter the way,
Sally was still silent.
My feeling for her flowed.
All I wanted to say is “her” now,
For that I love her so much.
The waiter brought the salad.
I picked it and brought to her,
Saying with guilt, “salad, Sally.”
Smiled she back to me
And picked up the plate.
My heart says, “choose Sally.”
Without conversing much,
I picked up her hand after leaving the restaurant.
The afternoon is cherished with cherry blossom.
The sunshine warmth her and me.
The slight wind chill
Still slightly blows on our faces.
Sally, the girl I chose,
Smiled on our way back home.
That day, I chose Sally.
