can't get HERE from THERE
by Vince Sanders

The early 1970’s might have been the most appropriate time in America’s history to set up a radio news network for and about Blacks in the United States, more appropriate..

This Is Me

Don't call me Dave
Or Mr. Campbell
That's my dad
And I'm not him
Not saying I'm better
Just different
I'm not a Democrat
I'm not a Republican
Don't call me gay
Or straight
Or black
Or white
I'm not a man
But don't think me a woman
I have no use for your foolish labels
I'm greater than the sum of my parts
And can be anything I want at any time
You say I'm a good person
But I'm no better than you
I don't want to be confined
To your simple ideals
I just want to be me
To be liked for who I am
You say you want to pray for me
I say pray for yourself
I know where I stand
This world wants to make me conform
But I refuse to let it
Others may not understand
You may laugh at the strange things I do
But that's just because you don't take the time
To understand that this is me
In a world where nothing ever seems real
At least I can still be me

Who really cares what you do. Do what you please or do what I say. Makes no difference to me. Bill

My favourite lines were, "You say you want to pray for me, I say pray for yourself, I know where I stand,"

Glorious rights. High praise from my Den!

Warm Love,
