WHO’S GOING TO BRING ME MY MORNING COFFEE?
Jess’s Eulogy
Who’s going to bring me my morning coffee?
Who is going to wake me with a kiss?
I can pay the bills; give our kids their pills;
Cook the meals; clean the house;
Make sure that baths are taken and get the kids to bed;
But…who’s going to bring me my morning coffee?
Who is going to say “I love you” and softly kiss me goodnight?
Who will go to lunch with Roy ?
Who is going to polish Charlie’s NJROTC shoes?
Place his ribbons and pins exactly where they go?
I can get the kids to school;
Help with homework; wash their clothes;
Meet with teachers; do IEP’s in my sleep;
But who is going to shine his shoes?
I will learn to do that.
“Who is going to wake us up?” asks Lauren, Jessie, and JJ.
“Dad wakes us up and gives our morning pills.”
I can do that I assure them.
But who’s going to bring me my morning coffee?
I can do all the necessities that life entails
But….who is going to add that ‘you’re special’ touch back into our lives?
…left with only the memories…
The many special memories that you have given us
To comfort our broken hearts and souls.
We will miss you always.
I love you Honey.
