For her sixteenth birthday

I catch myself searching for her
That tiny child, wondering where she went
Looking back in the past
Where were those years spent?
Seems like only yesterday
Her tiny hand in mine
That we went out to play
Sneaking forbidden cokes and candy
Oh, what would her father say
If he had known just how handy
That little country store had been
Beautiful eyes, sweet smile, shining hair
Soccer, baseball, and volleyball player
Personality plus, always showing she cares
Her oh, so sweet, "I love you Nana"
Let's me know we still have lots to share
Although she is a teenager now
With friends of her own
We will remain in each others hearts
Never alone.
