Searched-for happiness, hoped-for love
Work, sorrow, pain, passion, strife
New beginnings, lost loves, painful endings
Searching for the ultimate high
First loves, old friends, quiet pretendings
Oh, if we could only know in advance
Just what the next chapter would bring
Would we leave anything to chance?
Choose to live as a pauper or a king?
Or would we continue to live
With the knowledge that experience teaches
Whether we take or we give
All the uncertainty reaches
And touches the lives of future generations
From beginning to unevitable end
We share all these with people of all nations
