what little you feed me
taken like communion
with prayers for release
from the sins I relish and can't
relinquish.
Hope wakes me
and I run
for food offered to gods
on an altar that isn't mine to touch
where I leave a sentence or two
and make believe
skin hunger
is satisfied
through thoughts
    trapped
in my pen
writing words never read
sipping tears
from an empty spoon.

Lynette - Interesting poem. I really like the last two lines and the image it leaves in my brain,

sipping tears
from an empty spoon.

Such fine and meaningful poetry, Lynette. I find that your words leave me sitting here, my thinking process awakened. I think you mean "altar" in the ninth verse. I could be wrong. Thank you for sharing. Love and peace,

Regis
