SHE – bm07/11/02

She’s a girl clad in a fancy outfit
Living in a fancy world
A life full of make believe

Her laughter shares her longing
Trying to conceal the truth
Behind those wicked smile

She hides between the bushes
Of her lined-tree pain
A hunger no food can sustain

At night, she pulled the curtain down
Tears welled up like water from the stream
A misfit silence filled her darkened room
can’t betray, only her and the stillness of the night
Only her beating heart, succumbing in pain

Morning comes and she started the day
Replacing the traces of her sullen nights
She shines like the sun on a sunny day
But she’s always alone like the moon

Sleeves to hide the scars,
Painted face to hide the bruises
Words that have no meaning
Melodies not for her singing

She believes in fairytales
She loves like it’s going to be her last
She dances like no one is watching
But only to the confinement of her realm

She believes in you,
She longs for you
We both do.
She and I one and the same
For we ache to be known by YOU!
