I heard a TV explanation
About a soul, today. A
Quick ad-lib by the one who lead
About-have-now. Imus, I never heard of…
But, I knocked off a cigarette,
To the floor of when, how…

Does that make me ridiculous?
Even now, where I can see how a soul
Can wrap around a heart, elusively?

I meant to say more,
But hate to intrude
On another’s thought
Processes, spiritually,
And then, I think, again.

The only way
We will achieve
Peace is death.

I have some of the most beautiful
Memories, and nows, of childhood, alone-wise.
And, when I try to throw off
wakefulness, I plunder those thus,
To help me sleep. But, as
Most of us know, dreams
Are not ‘dreams’.

I’m not going under the computer desk
To recover a dropped cigarette,
I have plenty, above, and,
I’m tired of knocking my head
Against reality.

Only thinkers "knock their heads against reality." Now see the class that puts you into?

Ok I must be the really sick one here since I rather enjoy "knocking my head against reality"! Reality is what keeps me (I hope) realistic, keeps my feet planted of sorts. Yes, I have dreams and hopes (we all do) but I've learned to not let them completely rule me. O now I am straying.

Erin thanks for this thought provoking and reflective piece, as always I most enjoy the ones that make and keep you thinking! Glad to be back and reading your work again!

Erin,

Reality is a hard surface that we keep banging our heads against...and I (as well as you) have the knots to prove it!!

Well done, I love the way this reads. I love the way you write. Wish more people read/reviewed you...
