Sorry guys! just rambling. I have just started doing a BA in writing at University... What's that? Yer I know I'm too old that's why my brain hurts and is full of dumb questions.

Where are we today, in this enlightened world?
Are we any closer to the truth?
Did T S Eliot really write about a piece of waste land? .... Struth!
No different, I guess, from espousing the virtues of a bridge... "Dear god the very houses seem to sleep."
Why did Beavis deny the works of women, gays (Did they have those then?) and other ordinary folk from the heap?
Why oh why! Do they have to put in so many f**king words that are not in my three dictionaries or any other book?
Are we really going to war with Iraq?
What's for dinner any way?
Or do I have to cook?
Does anyone know the difference between affect and effect?
How are narratives structured?
And how does this determine meanings?
Shall we get pissed tonight?
Do you feel like getting wrecked?
Is there school tomorrow on a public holiday?
I suppose sex is out of the question?
What is the common pursuit any way?

Affect is a verb,
And so, my friend,
you affect your liver
When your elbow bends.

Effect is a noun,
And you should think
About the effect
On your liver when you drink.

I like this makes me think! Not easy for you or me.

"affect" is a verb; "effect" is a noun.

New words are created everyday,
this affects some people's thinking,
but the effect is great.

David, How many times will we do this? What ever floats your boat and won't sink mine, that is the common pursuit. Again, good luck with you degree. Oh and ... added luck with the "Birds".
