First Love

Become a Fan

First Love

Wilt thou be my love,
He asked in breathless hope
And waits with flushed cheek
To hear her seal his fate.

Tw'd be such ecstasy of heart
To enter there and be a part
Soft rounded cheek, full of grace,
Oh what a lovely, winsome face!

No more the solitary way,
The dark and lonely night.
Echoing rooms of aching hearts
Longing for the light.

His heart's desire she could fill,
At the mercy of her will
Only a word or nod at best
Can put all doubts and pain to rest.
