Spriitual look at the final judgment.
|
Just yesterday in my mind’s eye
A vision of the next life appeared
So clear that tears of joy streamed down my face.
It was tranquil – heavenly – a Garden of Eden
And as I walked about that place
Its beauty captured me in peace and contentment.
Guides descended in flowing robes of white
And they followed close behind
Never speaking, but urging me along the way.
Great steeds, soft and pearlescent
Carried others on to our judgment
And as they neared, I called out to them.
Joining me on enlightenment’s path
They spoke of the immeasurable joy
Of joining loved ones who had preceded them.
We strolled across a golden bridge
Illuminated by a thousand shimmering lights
Dancing in syncopation to orchestral melodies.
A set of gates stood strong before us
Barring further passage beyond
To the everlasting kingdom of dreams.
We halted there to receive our bounty
From the sage keeper of the book
Naming those saved, but also the unworthy.
I could sense that the gift of salvation
Lay but a few extra steps beyond
And I pressed for a chance at review.
Searching the page I beheld my fate
As an unconfirmed and uninvited guest
With but one last chance for redemption.
In a blink, the guides whisked me away
From that beautiful state of Nirvana
To continue my apprenticeship in the flesh.
Now utterly repentant, clarity calls out
For the righting of several past wrongs
In hopes of repealing my lot at atonement.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to know that the afterlife will be as beautiful as you have presented it. I really like that line, "To continue my apprenticeship in the flesh." It really is just that, isn't it?

Your poetry is deep and inspirational. I admire your writing style, as it is very uplifting. My favorite part of the poem is,
"We strolled across a golden bridge
Illuminated by a thousand shimmering lights
Dancing in syncopation to orchestral melodies."
These are lovely words, with deep meaning to me.
Stop back into my den, as I have recently written called "Ancora, the Continuation of the Italian-American Love Letter". It is inspirational, but also a cute story. Take a peek when you get a chance |
