The early 1970’s might have been the most appropriate time in America’s history to set up a radio news network for and about Blacks in the United States, more appropriate..

'The horror of it all' he cried
The candlelight and burn inside
The tears that stain
The fall from pride
He scaled the walls
That hold us all
A fortune of truth
Inside his mind
He left the waiting world behind
He shook the hand
That held him down
In a world of sunrise
He turned his world around
‘Oh let it rain today
Make my day complete
Let the flood fall ‘round my feet’
I read the words
Followed the voices
That you heard
I caught the wave that broke us through
The walls are down
The walls are down
‘Oh let it rain today
Make my day complete
Let the flood fall ‘round my feet’
I heard you say
Not for the first time today
I walk the path that breaks us down
The walls are down
The walls are down
Sometimes I wish it would end
Sometimes I wish I could go
Sometimes I know I will stay
Sometimes I don’t know
‘Oh let it rain today’
Of horizons
And the hills that remain there
Are the places we dream of
And the walls that surround
Focus our stares
With passion and precision
The destination is reached
But the journey never ends
The walls must fall
Before we ascend
‘We aspire to greatness
To our eternal distress’
A pearl of wisdom
In your rosary
Around your wrist
In a clenched fist
That’s all you’ve been given
As you face the Heavens
And cry :
‘Oh let it rain today,
Make my day complete,
Let the flood fall ‘round my feet,
And the night returns
To entice and burn,
Oh let it rain today.’
