Dancing in Wal-Mart

Surrounded by harried shoppers
and the discorporate voice calling
for attention in another aisle,
he takes my hand and we dance.

It’s what we do.
We dance in Wal-Mart.

Some people stare, others hurry away;
a few smile
for they recognize the love we share.

It’s the most romantic thing
I’ve ever done,
this dancing in Wal-Mart.

One hand in mine, the other on my waist,
we smile, he spins me, we pull close,
moving gently to a song only we hear,
a sweet kiss, and the dance ends.

You’ll not find it in the pages
of a Harlequin Romance,
because this dancing-in-Wal-Mart-love,
it’s the real thing.

It’s funny how a little two-step
can make shopping so
glorious!

I have to echo Regis--It's delightful! I just wish you had a picture of the two of you dancing there.

Delightful, Leysa. Would that all relationships could experience a "dance in Wal-Mart." Love and best wishes,

Wow did this bring back memories. In the first months of dating my lady and I were in Kohl's when we heard over the sound system, "Can You Feel The Love Tonight," I made us drop everything and start dancing- I sang it to her...
Got to get back there.
I agree- the real thing.
Thanks for the glorious reminder.

Thank you for bringing a smile into my heart. What a wonderful way to dance.
