JOHN CAGE song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

Cage was Cage's creation
the teacher of more than a nation
the gift in the musical present
the victim of endless resentment

in composing it is best assumed
no one is with you in the room
objects develop their sound
as long as no one is around

John Milton Cage
all in a rage
calm as could be
in serenity

environment is the experience
all sound is a lack of all permanance
four minutes and thirty-three seconds
is just long enough he did reckon

preparing pianos performance
to find secret notes laying dormant
chaos is only a moment
that lasts forever in torment

who is to say what is tune
pluck the string from the sun to the moon
electroacoustic or real
you know it by how do you feel

be frightened of the old ideas
except for the ones you can steal
ideas are only one thing
and what happens is what you can sing

we need not destroy what is past
it is gone in the ether at last
we carry our homes on our backs
which enable to have what we lack

it's useless to play lullabies
to those have no sleep in their eyes
it is better to make than to play
all there is is this one simple day

John Milton Cage
notes on a page
between the wires
a man on fire

I haven't looked up John Milton Cage, but I believe this song could be the rage.
