Happy Thanksgiving and many blessings to all. :-)

I give thanks for the hard times,
for they made me strong.
I give thanks for the lean times,
for they made a giver.
I give thanks for the loneliness;
it taught me to be a friend.
I give thanks for the hunger,
that taught me to share.
I give thanks for the tears,
that taught me to smile.
I give thanks for the storm
that made me a survivor.
I give thanks for the gift of words;
‘cause as long as there is air to breathe
and light to see, and lessons to learn,
to share the blessing,
on this day and always, I will write.

You have expressed yourself so beautifully in this poem, and have show that you appreciate life, and all of the simple things. The photo enhances your poem, as it shows the outdoors and nature. I agree, the "storm makes us survivors." It is the hardships and challenges with strengthen us.
Please stop into my den and let me know what you think about my work.

Amen... and thank you for YOU! Like a prayer sampler on a Puritan wall. A good delineation of the benefits of "suffering" as opposed to the virtues of stoicism. Living in denial can make us hard as flint, but being sculpted by lifes winds and waves can render us moulded, malleable and useful. Poignant thoughts couched in elegant, clean simplicity. Bless you, K xx
