I haven't been writing too much poetry lately because I'm involved in other projects. So... I've re-written an old one that I feel it is a good message to send you all in a most happy and creative New Year.

I'd like to dedicated this poem to a wonderful, encouraging, and supportive friend, Phyllis Green

I write poetry because:
I want to see the flip side of purple,
wade in a waterless creek,
witness a sunrise at twilight,
listen to hear the silence sing
melodies not yet conceived.

I write poetry in search of
peace amidst the quake and
to find goodness in stony hearts
because I canít help but think,
we, as the coin, also have another side.

Call me a dreamer, but so I search...
I look for that rim of sunlight
above the thick ebony clouds
drifting over our lives.

I breathe the scent of spring
in a winterís bitter night.
I look for beauty in the thorn,
and tears fade into a smile,
when the child in me fiddles
with notions unreal and wild.

I write poetry because:
I want to tear down the walls
that falsely make me feel safe.
I want to live in a straw-made hut,
and invite the bad, bad wolf
to huff and puff, and blow it down
and look at me naked as a brand new babe
Iím free and I write poetry becauseÖ
becauseÖ thereís so much Iím yet to dream.

The eyes of a poet seek for those things that reveal the world. For this, we need new perspectives, discoveries and enlightening experiences.

The eyes of a poet see what many haven't seen yet or what they don't care to see anymore.

Beautiful and honest vision Carmen.

A perfect poem to read throughout the month of January while gathering the creative momentum of purpose and inspiration to keep one's pen productive throughout the rest of the year. In A POET'S COMMITMENT, we get not only the alluring magic that draws so many to the art, but the power that comes with the resonsibility of respecting and honoring its full value and legacy. Much gratitude Poet,

Wonderful write my friend, enjoyed this very much. Your write has described what a poet is all about, very sensual, just as a true poet, we use all of our senses and then pour them onto the page. Great write!

Oh, Carmen. I don't know what to say. That you should honor me in this way is. . .I don't know what to say! T h a n k . y o u . from the bottom of my heart. Given enough time and luck, I am going to be a better poet because of you. This poem alone! I hope you are entering it into competition, because it is bound to run away with top honors. Was a jewel to start, and you somehow managed to give it subtle new facets that add to its dazzle. Not only do you write like an angel, you get down in the pit and chip and carve and plane
and polish. Where others say Good enough, you say, Good enough is not enough! Add to originality, eye for detail, and flair for language the discipline that is the hallmark of every great artist. . .no wonder we are in your thrall! T h a n k . y o u.
for. . .all of above and below! With gratitude, respect, and mui, mui admiration, Phyllis <3 <3 <3
