The Osprey struck cleanly, coming
Away with a 2 foot salmon climbed
Slowly over the pool. Down came the
Eagle, white headed missile, to knock
The fish away, then catching it, mid-air,.
Swooped into the trees to enjoy a stolen meal.

“A bird of bad moral character” Wrote Ben Franklin,
Who “does not get its living honestly”
For a national emblem Old Ben preferred the
Wild turkey “... a much more respectable bird...a
A little vain and silly, but a bird of courage...”

The eagle, ever vigilant, watches the Osprey
from the tree waiting for his next
meal

Hi John,
I like the analogy to life.
As for "Wild Turkey" that would put feathers on your chest.

The turkey would've been s nicer symbol. :) I'll drink a shot of Wild Turkey.

good write! have seen eagles several times; three times in my backyard back in ohio! they are awesome birds; so majestic and regal! glad the eagle is our national bird isntead of the turkey (although i DO love to eat turkey!)!! :)
