In Memory Of my Dad

October 26, 1998

Dad today it will be thirteen  years

But that does not stop the tears from flowing

Tears of longing and time lost with you

And Dad I just want to tell you

You know what!!

Your great grandchild’s tiny body

Will be buried the day after tomorrow?

This month October

Will forever be a painful one

Too many dates to remember now

Birthday’s deaths and funerals

Grand father, father, brother and child

Oh Daddy my tears runs wildly

As I remember that awful day

I had to say my goodbyes knowing

Your eyes will never be seen again

Your life had ended a few hours later

While I was traveling back home

I was deadly tired and alone

I did not know till hours later

As I stepped into my home I just knew

When my phone rang

I knew your laughter was gone

Dad all I want to say today is

I love you Dad

And I miss you today

Today I will be by your side

The way I was next to your hospital bed

In prayer with our Lord

Because memories are still alive

Deep within my heart Dad

The depth of the words radiate with pure emotions in how much a tribute this is to your dad, my blessings and best wishes.

He must've been a powerful influence in your life, Tinka. I do not remember my father in the same fond way. But all that matters is that you do and that you write poetry to prove it.

Tinka, you have reached deeply into the heart of me with your grief and sorrow -- my words will fall woefully short of soothing your aching soul -- the loss of so many makes life sad -- for the loss of your little grandchild know that I grieve with you my dear friend -- I bid you love peace and understanding -- Jon Michael

So very sad Tinka, and it's also sad for me. I lost my father 11 years ago now, and I still miss him very much. But as you say, they will live on, in our hearts.

How beautiful although melancholy, but how beautiful is this! I'm so sorry for your pain of these losses, which you express in such a tangible way. Grief is a sign of how deeply we love, and you have expressed such grief and depth here.

Oh Tinka, my heart aches for you.
Time goes by so quickly as a lifetime of sorrows mount.
You are always in my prayers.

Tinka, I'm so sorry; the pain must be utterly unbearable when you consider the toll of Octobers over the years - and now this latest tragedy. My love and prayers are so with you as you continue to grieve and I sincerely hope that somehow, somewhere, there will be the gift of fresh life, fresh hope and a form of redemption of a month that has become so hard. My own father died in June 1978 and I distinctly remember having a kind of "waking dream" in which, in my grief, I was casting about at the base of an ancient oak, trawling through dry leaves when a voice spoke to me and asked why I was searching through the roots instead of tending my gaze upwards, where his light and life were abundantly shining... The loss was softened by that encouragement, although the parting can be so hard. My your loved ones, old and young, be reunited beyond the veil. Bless you, darlin xx

Oh Tinka my friend, I feel your loss right through the computer screen. Life can be so hard..

It's almost 8 years since my own father passed, and like yourself, it feels like yesterday.

I'm deeply sorry you've lost a grandchild, too... oh, Tinka, that must be utterly heartwrenching for your loving self..

I will be on my knees, too... praying to our LORD, for you and your family to be comforted and to know His peace.

Miss you, love you, Tinka. My heartfelt condolences to you.
BIG Hugs, Rhonda
