when it is time to move on in life
Nobody should accept abuse.

Last leaf ©hjv

No expectations, she deserved no more
Breaking rules brings its own reward
He messed with her mind messed with her
She was no good, used, abused, no bruise
All that was done was to her head
Out ward two people in happy accord
Successful, reasonable admired
The quagmire hidden deep-----
Where wounds bleed into the soul
Knives secretly twisted; bad things
Happen late at night.
Dreams of escape fall away
Children the shackle that binds
Stare from the window and wish....
Wish for peace for blessed relief
Let him never come back.
Anxiety; depression hit hard
Some times she screams,
One last time of torment
One last leaf to fall just one--
With the wind; she is gone.

A powerful poem that captures the creeping, paralyzing dread that haunts people subjected to emotional abuse. The soulís wounds are always the deepest. Thanks very much for sharing this poem.

EVERY word in this poem grabs my attention and reminds me of the suffering that often happens right under our noses. I had to stop and pray after I read your poem, for those near and far who are abused. Both those who cause the pain, and those who are wounded. Lord help! powerful,Helen.
