Our eyes met
Twice that night
We both knew
It wasn't right
Yet our eyes met
Twice that night
While others
Were out of sight.

He was there
She was there
All we could do
That day
Was to transmit
An occasional stare.

Now I find myself
Alone this day
wondering
If I had asked you
Would you have stayed?

Our eyes met
Twice that night
I am surrounded
With the loneliness
Of this room
Wishing into the future
When one day
I might say
I knew her all too well
Our eyes met
Twice that night.

Augh!!!
So sad.
A love unconditioned plagues the memory forever.
Great way to put it!!

He who hesitates is lost! However, I also believe that sometimes a check in the spirit works to our benefit! Wonderful poem William!

Wow...this touched me.
I often wonder at the chances we miss when we could have gotten to know someone and didn't. This poem says it all, my friend. A keeper!

A beautiful write, Bill, as always, although the last line in the third paragraph I might change to "Would you have stayed?", but then again there is such a thing as poetic license...Peace always, Ed & rufuz

Interesting when things like this happen, and often food for thought.
