The Holiday Seasons are here
Something in the air
Tells me
It won't be the same,
This year.

You See!
No snow on the ground here
Too far south
Too hot
Too humid.

My first Holiday Season
Resting under a palm tree
Sipping rum and coke
Listening
To a steel band, playing carols
Instead
Of roasting, chestnuts
on an open fire.

Now don't call me
No liar
I super glued, a Santa's hat
On a nine foot alligator
Whose name is
"See You later.'

Cute he is
From a distance
As I hung him upside down
His smile tends to impose
Too many pearly whites.

Like the snow flakes
Or the sparkling
Holiday lights
I wrapped around him.
Like a Holiday tree

On this humid
hot tropical night
As we wait for Santa
To arrive in his red scuba gear
This wonderful year.

I grew up in So. California, so I never had snow on Christmas until I lived in Ohio, as an adult, for a few years. Christmas is a state of mind and there is nothing wrong with spending the day getting a tan and grilling out.
Take care,
Sherry

Now that sounds like a fun Santa Claus and I enjoyed this little ditty.

What a fun write! It lifted my spirits even though I won't be there as usual. Enjoy every minute of your tropical Christmas.

I can see the warmth of the south has tickeled your funny bone...what a hoot, William. Here it is snowing and hovering at 20 degrees, one box of sunshine...please.

Peace and love, Carole

I woudl hate to celebrate Christmas anywhere but here in the cold weather...it wouldn't seem like the season without some cold weather and some snow, but only just a little, then it can go back to 70 degrees for the rest of the winter...FAT CHANCE! ED

It is strange to have Christmas without snow. I did that once, but like you have done in this poem you invent a new way to enjoy it :-)

I can relate since I spent a few Christmases in the deep south, and it just wasn't the same for me with no snow, but as Andy says - I'm freezing right now - BRRRR.
