Every day that goes by
I have no choice but to stare
At your portrait
Which sends a feeling
Throughout my soul
Knowing you and I, will never embrace
Your forbidden lips
Mine will never taste
The warmth of your hands
Will never hold mine.

I see the passion that burns
Within your eyes
A passion that you share
Not with me
Still deep inside, my heart throbs
Skipping a beat
Losing its rhythm.

As I attemp to scribe
Lines and verses, that will rhyme
With all the time
I have never held you, in my arms
Even down the line
Of days
I professed my deep admiration
Only if within my own thoughts.

I respect you
But I am unable,
to subdue this burning flames
That lights the soul
That encases you within
Your love for me is forbidden
My taste for your lips
Will never be quenched
My heart will continue beating
Till silence conquers it
My glazed eyes
Will be staring at you
At the edge of infinity
Where
The love I possessed for you
Still lingers.

There's always the next life, William. Love never dies. Someone put it this way to me recently:

"Love has a different tune: I love you, therefore you are free to do as you wish. My love says you cannot do any wrong in my sight. My love says you cannot hurt me for it would not wish to make you responsible for the way I feel. My love says I am here for you if you want me, or I can be gone if that is what you wish. My love does not depend on your performance to exist - it depends entirely on a choice I make, moment by moment. My love accepts that you may even come to hate me for what I am and it is strong enough not to compromise itself to please you. My love cannot be manipulated. My capacity to love is infinite and is not bound by your feelings or desires."

Circumstances can be very hard to fathom at times. Love and peace to you,

Regis

Love is two people within the heart and your poetry here decribes the unison that so many people miss. By sharing your verses and soul you immortalize a part of your life that never will end. These footprints also give your heart peace. Love is always an album of memories that are the truest aspects of living. It may have been yesterday that love visited but by permission from the heart it is always a part of us...and it never is past but lives in continued reflections.
This is beutiful.

I agree with Ed,,but it would be nice, if someone thought of one this way, after all it's easy to respect and be kind to someone that you don't know, then once one gets to know another, then they start losing respect, stop listening, forget to ask about the other, go places without a second thought, oh maybe I should call, maybe they would like to join me, or I would like to have that person next to me, to show everyone who I have in my life,,,that respects me for me, despite my screw-ups, and that everyone has a past journey,,,I liked this, but in a way, it's depressing yet heart felt, for it once was but no longer is,,at least that the feeling that is shown to me,,what they say is true, actions do speak louder than words, especially when they make a point of doing hurtful things right in front of you,, lie about things that you know is true,,sorry, I'll shut-up now,,all in all, a very well penned talent coming from a man who writes with his heart,,,keep sharing,,love those thoughts,,clea
