To my grandsons
I would like to say
That the reaper for me
Will come some day
Just in case, I don't see you
Cause on a beautiful morning
I will not wake
Someone up there
Might keep me within
My last dream
I won't be aswering
Any wake up calls
So don't look for me
Down the hall.

Where are you gonna find me?
There in your heart
And within your mind
In the archives
I've tried to meet you guys
On equal terms
You see! life is short
It comes at you fast
One minute you're here
The next you're gone
Like Houdini
Not anymore there.

Exit stage left, disappeared
Missing in action
Your face a photo
On the back of a milk carton
Or just a photo behind
Several lit memorial candles
Smiling on a once
in a life time, favorite picture.

William,

Poignant and powerful. When your time actually arrives, your grandsons will be blessed by it.

My father wrote poetry...my grandson - his first-born greatgrandson - was one of us who spoke at his funeral.

It takes a great deal of love to write like this ...and you surely have a beautiful love-filled heart!

Well now, I look at dying like going on a new adventure. Something I don't get to do now. When we die the past is gone. The bills, the appointments, the sad exchanges and not so fond memories. I believe it's...just love. Great poem William.

Grandpa Bill, it is a wonder a bucket wasn't the designate ball in the Miami Superball, because I been hearing for years about this-one or that-one kicking the bucket.
It is the same one Truman referred to? (if you are old enough to remember the clichè)
Anyway, well done look at the reaper, he is coming like you or not.

Sad in a way, William, but so true. You've penned a good one.
