God Bless All our Vets
Specially those that made
"The Ultimate Sacrifice"
Peace & love be with them

*Still, The Bugles I hear*

~*~

Once again

I find myself

Honoring those

That lived one time ago

Went over seas

To answer the call

The drums of war.

*

I stand at attention

Though I am aging fast now

My bones are not the same

But the pain in my heart

Overpower

Those that attempt to prevent me

From saluting

My fellow Marines, Soldiers

Sailors Airman

And the Guardians of our Cost.

*

Tearfully

The echo taps I hear

For those that served

Giving their ultimate sacrifice

With their Precious lives.

*

In my mind

Paces the “Lone Piper”

That one day

Above

My sod covered grave

Will play Amazing Grace.

*

Peace and love

To all we honor on this

Memorial Day

God Bless them all.

Thank you, William, for remembering. This is indeed a sad day yet it is a very important day. If not for those who heard the call and responded, if not for those who gave their all, our lives would be much different today. God Bless each one of them, they should be in our prayers every day. Beautiful poem.
Take care,
Sherry
