Excellent. I had written a letter to friends and family, and was looking for something to close with on-line. This is how I came to find your poem. Thank you so much. It was a fitting end to my letter. Here it is as well...
I was sitting here thinking how blessed I am to have such a wonderful person assigned to me. Often times I fail to realize the abilities and under utilize the availability of those that God has placed directly in my life. I confess that I have failed to fully appreciate those that God has given me.
This past week was a week of reflection for me. The lost of my father after so many years of suffering from cancer and other health issues, the untimely death of a brother-in-law due to a motorcycle accident, witnessing our own personal lost of another child, and then the passing of another one of my siblings (sister) who was fine and talking with her husband and then 30 minutes later slipped into eternity. I thought that some of these were untimely departures, and I found myself turning inward trying to balance the many hurts and pains from these loses. The truth of the matter is that we cannot balance all the hurts and pains within ourselves without God. Not even all of us put together can deliver the kind of results that God delivers. The key of understanding here is God's intention was never for us to bare the load on our own. Galatians 6:2 (Message Bible) Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.
Can we attempt to accomplish this task of self reliance when it comes to handling difficult moments? Yes we can. However, it is so much easier when others are there and willing to comfort, guide, and to support us (share the weight) when we can't seem to do it on our own. Believe it or not, you were hand selected to provide a level of fortitude in my life and I thank God for you. I don't want another day to come and go without me expressing my gratefulness to you and the unique gift that God has placed in your life to be there to share the weight on my behalf.
It's miraculous how God designed us to operate as individuals and as a unified body attached to others. It is as the scripture says, "…I am fearfully and wonderfully made … (Ps. 139:14)" We are a very complex creation of his. Every aspect of "us" He understands and knows. The beauty of it all is that we can count on God to take care of his creation by using others to supply what is needed or by his own power.
We are all important to one another in one way or the other even if we think we have nothing to contribute. A simple act of kindness can go farther than anything you can imagine. On today my act of kindness is to appreciate you and all the wonderful things you bring and have brought into my life. You are important to me.
I would like to leave you with these words by William Bonilla….
It's Importance
The warmth of a scented bed is to a Harlot
As a web is to the Widow spider.
As a lie is to a liar
The Den to a poet
Money to a bank
Honey to a hive.
Snow to Winter
Blossom to Spring
A Rose to Summer
Swirling leaves to Fall
A Roasted turkey to grace the table on Thanksgiving Day,
Christmas and Easter to all who celebrate the birth and death of Christ our Lord. |

I love all of it, but I really love the ending stanza! Yes, that is what Christmas and Easter is about: the birth (and death, as well as the Resurrection) of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, NOT presents and Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny and chocolate candy! Well done, William; enjoyed~
