I Cried

I Cried

I woke up one morning

Startled from a bad dream

Confused

Fearing the unknown

Wondering

How would I feel

If one day

I was unable to think

About you

Or of your loveliness

And I Cried.

I love the "simplicity" of this, William. It is pure and crystal, just like how one thinks with such amazing clarity on first waking from a very vivid dream that delves deep into the emotions. Our inner thought life can often be the only thing that is keeping us alive, and we cherish it. This poem also highlights the priceless treasure that is memory... how life can ebb away when that goes. Bittersweetness here. Thank you, Kate xx

The dream must have been frightening, William. Dreams bring our fears to consciousness as well as our deepest feelings. So many times we hide our feelings under the guise of strength--until something like this brings them to the surface. The release of tears is the heart's comfort. Beautiful expression of your love for her...
