She was commissoned Today Novmber 8th 2009, In New York City,
Her motto is "Never Forget"
The Navy's Newest War ship
God bless America

 USS New York (LPG21)

Out of tyranny and terrorist

Destruction,

A creation was born,

From the sacred ashes

Of Ground Zero

Where left behind

In the hollow site

Of our memories

Still lies so many Heroes.

William, a stirring, yet haunting, tribute to a
majestic ship born of the steel that strengthens
our nation's resolve to rebuild the towers in our
hearts and memories.

A beautiful and heartbreaking reminder of a wound that never heals, William. Is this the ship that was made from metal from the Twin Towers? To forget what happened is to welcome it again. We must stand staunch and tall in the face of the enemy and we must check our ranks, for the enemy now seems to have made its way within them.
Take care,
Sherry

I've missed you. I love the phrase "hollow site of our memories"--now we have something concrete to hold them. I am still mystified why all the other memorials are so tied up in red tape. Good write, William.

She sails proudly like a Phoenix arisen from the ashes, a constant reminder that vigilence is never wasted. Fitting tribute, hope you are well.

Such a beautiful poem in tribute to an honorable new ship. Amazing that this ship was made from the steel. It is a very happy/sad occasion, but one that will definitely make the history books.
Thank you William for being who you are,
Peace, love, and light,
