God Bless Our Troops on the Iraqi Front
|
When Johnny went mraching,
Off to war,
A tear, he did his best,
To hide.
A handsome face,
masquerated, with a smile,
As he kissed, his sweetheart,
And love ones good bye.
two weeks since the war began,
Time really flies,
For us,
For Johnny it's a time warp in hell,
Frozen, in the skies,
No time concept,
In war, as we know it,
The sunrise and sets,
The moon arches,
Across the dark heavens.
Little has Johnny noticed,
All he wants, is to survive,
Sleep, has not blessed him,
He steals a nod, here and there.
For he possesses,
The thousand yard stare.
That handsome smile,
And cute sparkles,
In his eyes,
were all left behind.
When Johnny,
Comes marching home again,
Forgotten not, are the atrocities,
He witnessed there,
Home ward bound, he brings,
His thousand Yard stare.

| I had that three hundred yard stare, it was the designated Kill Zone. What bull that was, got a lot of good men killed. Never wait to fire when your gut tells you to. Really a nicely written piece of work. |
