Aura of anguish,
what choice else have I?
Beckon death: my wish.
Weak knees I rely.

Mercy is patient,
but your strength is brief;
stamina in wet cement.
Damp! My tears of grief.

What choice else have I,
henceforth lies portend
masking happiness.
This, did not intend.

Weak knees I rely.
Second wind, beckon,
summon 'gainst awry!
Lack of faith; reckon.

Alone fragile knees,
scars, wounds and trial.
Beseech what sets free
Solo: undue while.

We are all weak in the scheme of things, but sometimes it is in our weakness that we truly find strength...

Dear Brittany,

This poem reads almost like a Shakespearean tragedy. Congratulations!!!

You have put together the totality of the experience of breaking up with someone/something and the aftermath the insues so well in so few words. There is a degree of ambiguity due to the shortness of the lines, while detail abounds, that lets the reader fill in particulars--this makes good writing in my opinion. J.

Sometimes the feeling of despair and lonliness is hard to capture but this one got the subject so beautifully. I am going through these same emotions so I know the feeling. Thank you Brittany for sharing such a deep thought.
