Daddy by Chessly Lynn Nesci Wednesday, December 16, 2009 Not rated by the Author. Share Print Save Become a Fan The holidays are always the most difficult after we loose a loved one. My father was the closest to my heart and somedays it is so hard to go on. The only thing keeping me going is the thought of being together again in heaven. Merry Christmas Daddy!

The pain is still lingering every day. I know you did the best you could. We never had a lot; but we had love. I always think of you day and night. Just saw a man that looked like you. I started to cry; he wondered why? Can’t I just see you one more time? I have so many things I need to say. I know you are still with me in spirit. You turn my radio off when I'm singing. I always find your pennies from heaven. You shine through the dark clouds. Warming my face when I’m sad. I know that bright sun is you. It is the brightest when I need you. Dads are the ones in the shadow of Moms, the ones that doesn't talk too much and are most privy with their feelings. But altogether, where mothers can, from tender beings, become tigresses defending their offspring, fathers always will be the aloft lions, always ready but with that deep growl saying how much it loves you. I lost my Mother in 1998. Still, the whole scene of it, makes me cry. I keep her picture in the top drawer of my nightstand. Your poem reflects well the heart of love you had/have for your "daddy". Touching! Blessings ... r

oh my Chessly, this brings tears to my eyes, I so think of my Dad who died in 1988 suddenly, love the photo and I am sure those pennies will forever be found -Christine-

Such a beautifully worded ode to your father. Love the picture, his smile said it all, he was happy having his picture taken with his lovely daughter. I was taken by the soft truths of this poem like finding the pennies from heaven. Wonderful. You father is smiling.
