Darkness doesn't have to be frightening unless we are struck by lightening. ~Peace~

                                   ~Dark Trail~ id="il_fi" "" width="678" height="452" src="" />

Alone and scared on a long dark trail

My body is telling me that I'm not well

Panic and fear take over my fragile mind

Is it possible that this could be my time?

Being alone in the dark isn't that bad

So scared I forgot I was ever sad

Pushing through all the intense pain

Knowing it will bring me many gains

Coming to terms with all my  fears

Weights that kept me down for years

Standing tall and not afraid to face it all

Ready to brace myself if I begin to fall

The darkness doesn't have to be frightening

Unless I am unlucky and get struck by lightening

Honest, direct and with real feeling and a wry sense of humour, too, Chessly.

I enjoyed reading this and smiled at the bit of humor at the end. It's not always easy to come to terms with our fears but the reward is worth it.

To me this reads as though the writer is gaining strength and overcoming the fear of darkness. Very well stated, my friend.

Oh yes, this is philosophical wisdom.
Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!
(Sorry, that comes to mind because I grew up hearing my mother yelling that at me quite a bit!) But basically, never fear anything, just have faith.

I like this. The give and take as you are talking the pros and cons of this journey you are on and the storms that sometimes rage within us. Nice work.

Definately thought many different thoughts crossed through heart and mind as I read this...

That dark trail could be your way of losing your way to reality. Dreams always have meaning. The answer to them is in our mind. Very thought provoking writing.

Interesting photograph and piece. Comming to terms with one's self is what it is all about, at that point no one will ever have power over you and your destiny is your own...

Be always safe,

Have to see some humor in that last line but darkness is like being under water and wondering where your next breath is coming from but then you realize you're just in your bathtub and have complete control.
