This poem is about two people who have found love late in life. Both have faced death, neither gave up and they really like their new lives.

TOO YOUNG FOR BINGO
© copyright 2010 Richard Lee King

First we met for ice cream,
then I took her for a ride.
We’ve since done lots of other things
and we’re usually side by side.

We’re not old enough for Bingo,
or so she’d have me think
and, usually when we go out
she’ll only have one drink.

We have a movie night
and we often go to karaoke.
So far everything we’ve done
she says is okie dokie.

We may go out dancing,
or maybe just to dinner.
Then I’ll have my poker day,
but daily, I’m the winner.

For now, our time together
I treasure in my heart
and, I think about her often
whenever we’re apart.

But, neither of us are thinking
of a 24/7 relationship
and, we don’t say I love you,
unless we let it slip.

I’ll just tell her she smells good,
she knows it’s part of my spiel.
It’s from a guy on TV,
maybe from Boston Legal.

We both know the other cares
and we’re having lots of fun.
Even without the rings & license,
I’m certain she’s the one.

So, the last thing every evening
as I’m heading off to bed,
rather than that old loneliness,
I think of her instead.

This is so endearing Richard,
I am a firm believer in love
and all the facets...
(we all know love)
your poem embracing & tender
"and, we don’t say I love you,
unless we let it slip."

Let loves voice have wings...
