When I first joined The Den, I would put 3 or four poems on one page. This poem is the final installment of a series of poems about my life which are now being separated so that each will have their own home.

MY LIFE  Chapter IV (TODAY)

Finally another generation
begins to take on it's shape.
First comes sweet little Christy,
her grandma’s little namesake.

Then comes Kylie & Rachel,
they'd all make their grandma proud.
She'd have spoiled them all rotten,
if she'd only been allowed.

Now the family's all in
Florida,
we all live close together.
We can help each other out
when we've hurricanes to weather.

Soon you're feeling old,
life no longer holds much fun.
You long to love again,
if you could find the perfect one.

You've been single twenty years
plus maybe a couple more.
And, every day you spend alone
makes life seem like such a bore.

You finally meet a lady
to help you pass the time.
You meet her on the internet
and so far she seems just fine.

You've only known her for 2 years,
but you both know the score.
And, every night you spend with her
makes you want for more.

You hope the prize is worth it
and that you can afford the cost.
Cause, with no one in your life,
you've recently felt so lost.

You steal some precious moments
and look forward to many more.
You've only ever felt this way
just a couple times before.

Life is full of unknowns,
seldom are you sure,
but, this time you are hoping
she'll turn out to be your cure.

Eventually you become fulltime
as she decides to share your home.
For nearly a quarter century,
you’ve most often been alone.

This may require an adjustment,
but you think you’re up to the task.
Just a few more years of happiness,
that’s really all you ask.

Mighty fine ending to a quest. Just make sure you keep a separate beer fridge even if it's a small one. Patrick

don't let those 'adjustments' take more importance than waking up near to someone that brings you joy

....are you still dancing to the music of the rain...what about those buttercups for breakfast? mmmmm

i wish you both love...pat
