Home Alone

A friend shared some thoughts with me and I thought they were too profound not to put into a rhyme.

HOME ALONE

A couple snifters of Lady Red,
or a pull off of my glass bowl,
ease the aching in my lower back
and the hurt within my soul.

Maybe I’ll study the stars
or settle in to watch the game,
but whatever I may do
I’ll not be feeling any pain.

The evening is mine alone
as are the memories I’ll make,
for I never leave the house
after I partake.

Legally there’s are questions
about the way I live,
but once the pain is gone
I have so much more to give.

Some of my best creations
have come after the infrequent toke,
though I don’t do anything hard
occasionally I still smoke.

"A couple snifters of Lady Red,
or a pull off of my glass bowl,
ease the aching in my lower back
and the hurt within my soul."

"Legal" does not necessarily mean morally right, Richard. I appreciate the philosophical perspective that you have shared via your verses here... ...and I hope your pain is less. Love and peace to you,

Your poem leaves the reader feeling peaceful and relaxed...the imagery of the Lady Red and quiet setting is awesome! Nicely penned, Richard!

Each of us has a pain threshold and each of us must find a way to deal with it, for some it is alcohol, some drugs either prescription or non, some it is meditation or even yoga. The point is if it helps us through this world and does not hurt anyone else and yes allows our creativity to flow...go with it. Well said Dick.

PS I don't do tokes anymore but mainly it is because it took me so long to get off the cursed nicotine habit that I won't do anything that may tempt me back to cigs.

Cheap California burgundy is my thing, Dick, I never did like what you have in that glass bowl. Always just made me hungry and sleepy.

Dick this is really good, almost enough to hush the anti-medical pot crowd. Patrick
