The ocean spitting, waves crash in Eyes shoot out to darkening skies Silent gaze hands held high The sun sinking on shimmering horizon Toes welcome water, now ankle deep I take a walk, cautiously Dry to wet, toes curl in Thoughts blow across the wind Whoosh! Now I’m rooted Rushing back, feet exposed Waiting for the second wave Life stands still Youthful warmth Shall I run back to reality? Or sign my name in the sands of time? Answers they escape my attention The child has returned
