A poem to describe how society looks down on the poor

Peering eyes with icy stare

Pierce weak armored skin

Vultures of society hover above

Picking at innocence

Razor sharp intent

Quick to tear my flesh

Yet are we so different under blanket sky?

Judgment blinded by clouded eye

Unaware of my true heart

They do not know me

They should not judge

Peer pressure brainwashed puppets

Dancing to the tune of societies dance

Light to dark one long nightmare

Falling into infinite space

Outside we are so different

Inside we both cry and bleed

Names they call me!

Words they hurt the most

Cut the deepest wounds.

Onward I go, walking best I can

Into the never ending wind of hate

How I long

How I yearn

For the sun to shine on us all

For we are all the same

Under blinding sun

Deeply felt rendering of a universal truth. Something that I find increasingly hard to accept at a time when awareness is needed.

Oh well. People who have a problem with somebody not looking sharp on the outside shows a lot of their own not so pretty inside. In other words: it's their problem, not ours. :)
