The cord remained strained and now it rips

All manners of dialogue before and afterwards fall on deaf ears
We recoil like the ants do
And hide in rocks to avoid conversations

Worse and bad I am still
Far away from home I find sin....
Romance and infidelity, I find solace in
Content now, that we can’t return to the past
Oh-my!

The sea returns its dead to the shore
Now all my sin is there for all to see
Nightmares, nightmares and more nightmares
I bow my head in shame

I stand in the rain
Lord please wash my sins away
Soaked and tearful
I read here your letter
"It was love at first sight"

The cord remained strained and now it rips
The canoes drifts further and further off shore
I can’t help but think of us as the canoe
Years of abandon and neglect, and off shore it goes

We started like two Siamese twins
And confessed love at every given chance

Like the canoes off shore
We'll have to fight the tide that’s pushing us apart

But I am afraid it’s too late

The sea returns its dead to the shore
Someday, somewhere, the canoes will show up again
Love will always find us
And we can start anew
In the hands of those who love us

My iniquities, the tides
Our indiscretions, the storm
Us, the canoes
We didn’t create the elements to push us apart

Love will always find us
It’s never late to deviate from the past and start anew
