Rolling out cold

ups and downs, cycles of time, we'll know where we're going if we get there
|
get back
another century
riding the wind
working for a future we can't see.
roads stretch on
everywhere
away with wheels
rolling down the web of time.
bridges rise
spanning seas
stop and stare down
into depths we almost dared.
it's only a feeling
but swords and networks
are mere toys in trembling hands
deep down the cities
rise and crumble
only human after all these years
alone on a rock
in a sea of time
carry on,
carried away with freedom
we are never seen again
-- even the darkest fire
changes the world --
in the long count
only fossils are
remembered

"only human after all these years"
This was a good line and well placed. It brought a sideways smile to my face. |

| Same thing happened to me, some of my lost poems were found in my Grandmother's Bible after her death. Interesting write. |

Excellent write. Keep searching those lost notebooks. I have found verses scribbled on napkins that were some of the best words I've written.
