Drifter Of The Population

Who has walked this path? Some cannot get out.. They are eithermentally ill or young woman with children who have no place left to go.. Many are vets that served our country.

Who is this person?
Standing here
in this
filthy alley of
despair.
Dirty cloths
Matted hair
Weathered skin
Empty eyes.
Lives in the street
No place
to rest..
No money
to eat…
Part of a
nonexistent world..
No one remembers..
Who he is..
Who he once was..
Not always worthless..
Not a lost cause..
A victim of
circumstance in this
cavernous world..
Sucked into
societies vacuum
of hopelessness..
Desperation..
No longer part of the
human population…
Now treated less than an
Animal..
Criminal..
There is no help…
Nothing more than
a frayed thread of hope..
To help him climb out of poverty
Endlessness.
Homelessness
Looking through
a tired haze..
Transparent in his
nonexistence..
In another world..
Brain starved..
For nourishment..
Acceptance
Humanity..
He walks on
Grasping his
thread of
hope..
Praying to one day
be reunited..
With his aspirations..
With who he once was..
With who he can be..
Holding on for the
duration..
To be
once again part of the
human population.

This seems to be a repeat but worth repeating until we all come to grips with this problem and solve it.
