~Carrie~

Sweet of heart..lovely in satin..her ebony long lusterous

hair framing her porcelin hues..eyes of deep  sapphire blue..

lips  a trace of cherry stain..

                            ~ ~ ~

Pretty as a newly painted picture..she looks afar for her true

love..faintly she sees a ship on the waters horizon

Along the East shore of the waters..the

ships ever so turn into the lea of the English Channel

Forthwith her love will be in her arms..longing..for his kiss

                             ~ ~ ~

A little toe-headed boy in her care..she watches as he playfully

throws a ball to his favorite  playmate..a terrior puppy..

to a fishing companion

Carrie smiles as her love has written her a poem in his

last letter.. "on the wings of love you did but give so much

more from your heart"..tucking it inside her lace hankerchief

to read a time or so..as her heart awaits along the shore..

                           ~ ~ ~

A ship is seen by all the damsels..a tone of longing goes

out..it is he..oh, can it be he..from the open sea..

To behold her heartbeat patters quickly as the ship

approaches..on the deck beside the main sail..tears

upon her lovely cheeks..it is surely he...she hugs the toe-

headed little boy

                           ~ ~ ~

Come now with me my dear Carrie.. the billowing winds

strongly blowing..as he caresses her tightly..we have

a mirred of thoughts to share..

                           ~ ~ ~

They all walk hand in hand to her home across the English

meadow.. beauty in  graceful wind blown wildflowers

A lovely old stone cottage of English gardens..for-get-me nots

blooming red roses..primrose..white daisies along the water

fountain path of scented thyme

                           ~ ~ ~

Inside..the English cottage ..two glasses of wine he pours..he

kisses her gently..sitting beside her.. a romantic poem he wrote

for his Carrie.."Floating deeply into the dark blue midnight,

with my heart shining with all my desire and passion"

                           ~ ~ ~

The little toe-headed boy played ball with his terrior.. layed

down by the hearth..the little boy and the terrior drifted into

sweet sleep..the terrior peeked an eye open to

Carrie and her love..than nuzzled his nose in the little boys

arm once more

When I first saw the title I thought of Stephen King's first novel, but this poem is as far from that as far can be.

It's truly lovely and a must read for any fan of ramantic poetry.

This is the first time I've read your poetry Mary Ann, but it won't be the last.

Blessed be you and yours,
Marcia
