Ever found yourself complaining about the winter cold or complaining that you don't have enough cash this month to buy a new pair of shoes? I think we all have at some stage in our lives. I've written this poem so that we can remind ourselves that there are people out there who are really suffering, yet you don't often hear them complain about anything.

on a cold winter's night
i ponder the sight
of an innocent child
trapped on the street
with nothing to eat

not a roof nor a blanket
and the ice cold breeze
cutting through her weary clothes
and not once does it cross her mind
if she would survive one more night

and here we are in a warm cozy home
with a plate of food, a bed and hot bath
but still we complain about a small shortcoming

what does it take to realize
just how fortunate we are

will you realize when you see the smile
of this homeless child, no fear or worries
she is just ecstatic to be alive

So poignant.
Has one thinking of the little match girl, if pretentious.

A few days back we went camping, me and a few from Kung Fu. I have never been so cold, there was no way to get warm, unless I got in my car.

In the morning I told the camp site, this is how it must be for the unsheltered.

As always, such a poignant and perfect poem.

Tops to see you back writing.

Many must spend just one night on the streets to understand.

Nice one Sonnet. xx
