Dying Eyes

Poem

Gentle eyes, soft and brown, set in a face so sincere.
You've been searching so long and writing your song
Just to find that no one will hear.

Saddened eyes, full of thoughts, tell me why won't you speak?

Is the burden you bear that no one will care?
Will you find the answers you seek?

Searching for answers; where could they be?
Lost in a world where no one can see.
Are they all blind, doesn't anyone care
That we're drifting through time but going nowhere?

Tearful eyes, filled with pain, you don't know where to start.
So much to do, it's all up to you
And it's written inside of your heart.

Dying eyes, filled with remorse, the world will never be right.
They just go on living while you go on giving
And everyone's still losing sight.

Searching for answers; where could they be?
Lost in a world where no one can see.
Are they all blind, doesn't anyone care
That we're drifting through time but going nowhere?

-Connie Stanifer    (April 1980)
