Circle of Life
Along the corner of my roof lives a noisy little brood
I've listened all spring as the babies sing for their food
While drinking my coffee I heard a loud flapping sound
It's nearing the time for the wee ones to learn to soar above the ground
I sneak outside to sit by my car so quiet and still
Wondering what, if any emotion, the babies parents feel
They fly to and fro carrying food in their beak
I try my best not to disturb them as I steal a peek
They watch from the roof till they see I pose no threat
Then flutter inside another feeding goal is being met
I still have some time before the babies' first flight
I hope I'm there to watch as they flap little wings with all their might
Nature is quite a beautiful and wondrous thing
So many miracles and the joys it can bring
Take some time now and then from your busy hectic day
Park your car by a field and watch the new calves frolic and play
Follow an ant carrying its heavy load
Take time to see the mysteries of nature unfold
Listen to its sweet melodious song
Bringing a smile to your face won't take long
We have much in common with the birds, ants, and bees
So carefully carrying their worms, pollen, and seeds
We all work so hard in our own special way
Taking care of our babies each and every day
Family is important to each chain of life
We all experience joy, pain, and strife
Just remember to make time to watch your own babies play
Leave no room for regret when you realize they're all grown up one day
