Alone in the Dark

She left me,
the love of my life.
I lost my job
and marriage needs money
to oil over difficulties.
Now I had so little.

She caught a train
to the City.
I never hear from her
or our kid.
That breaks my heart
alone in the dark.

I lie in the night
thinking terrible thoughts
how to end the misery.
And as if to mock me
I hear the Central train
on the hour...every long hour.

I hope this poem is just an expression of your poetic license and has not happened to you in reality for it is just too sad to imagine. I am sending happiness and blessings your way.

David,

This is so sad, and a commentary on how the economy can destroy people's lives. But more than that, I can feel your deep pain at losing your loved ones. This brought a tear to my eye. I'm sorry for your loss.

Haunting and sad. Great writing though. I'm sure the minutes seem like hours. Transform the pain into words. Magical things will happen. Don't listen to your head too much. I've been through this myself. Absent the trains.
