this damn wave

 am i riding it?

 or is it riding me?

    hey! let me tell you

i am riding whatever it is

and i am holding on for dear life

         with both hands

and both feet

            and even my teeth

because i am riding this part of life

            down!

                 i just hope the trough

                   hits soon

                   because that would mean

                   life gets to flip

                   its switch

                   from bad, to worse

                   to…to…

                   better?

                      yeah maybe

                       to high,

                       to great,

                       to full of life,

to love of all there is to love.

     now that's nice and iced*

Good poem Sara. If only life was as simple as riding a wave. Waves all come from the same direction, life comes at you from all directions at once.

Excellent take on the subject of life -- the metaphor of life vs wave in a poem is ... "iced" (perfect!)

That was fun to read and yup, it always gets better.
However the pessimist would say, "It always gets darker before it gets pitch." lol
