Am I a haven, - a common habitat?

Will I rise to the surface,

Or descend in the black?

I search for my refuge retreat,

On the sands of the isle's,

And the wide ocean deep;

Will I feel the air on my cool white walls,

Or again share my place,

With creatures so small?

I seek and wait,

To delay no more, -

I'm a shell among many alone on the shore!

Drifting now

Through each current and wave,

Silvery glass, - from the surface I fade;

Beams of luminous, shimmering streams,

Guide me too the bottomless sea;

Descending now,

I reach my fate, -

Destinies portion of beauty so great!

Your imagery and powerful symbolism make this poem very effective, Michelle. Love and best wishes,

Ahh yes when the going gets tough, I live in such a shell. lol.
The vivid imagery had me seeing such shells in the deep blue without fathom.

Or as my son called them at age 3, shelters. Which I found quite profound.
