Sharp shooter assassin who has a change of heart...

Born Again Hired Hand

© Jaimey Perham 02/01/2010

Master hired hand best shot across the globe
Cold as Ice like the pistol he uses to do his dirty work
Mind sharp as a samurai sword, but heart black as coal
Motive for pure green gold alone just for himself and no one else
Walking down another metropolitan urban city street destination next hit
Just another random target, just another random day, just another random job
Heads up to the roof of a deserted rat infested crack house
Positions himself in the corner of the building with a view of a nearby apartment rear window
Takes out his expensive rifle, loads a shiny new silver bullet, attaches a black scope
Checks his Swiss watch, looks through the lens, and waits for his usual turn
Target appears, and he gets ready to do his dirty deed like clockwork
But this day with the orange sun shining bright in the blue sky with white clouds is different
His dead shrunken heart skips a beat, and the serial killer is caught by great surprise
Now in focus he sees for the first time not an object of target, but a real human person full of life
Her hair golden blond, eyes greenish blue, a smile to turn a clay statue into action
The beautiful maiden turns his way, with deep soulful eyes, and stares directly at him
An invisible unseen contact is made between the killer and lady
The stranger smiles, tilts her head, blinks her eyes, and runs her soft hands through her long hair
His hard dark eyes begin to water, and the son of Satan begins to cry, cry, and cry
A rush of passion and love fills his head and heart, and he begins to shake uncontrollably
The hired hand drops his weapon, and for the first time in his lonely worthless life
Smiles back at the young lady who ended up breaking his heart on that random day
And silenced a perverted soldier who once silenced others for a living once and for all in this life
The end for him, or does he get a second chance in the afterlife?
