Old as time, a fractal pattern like a repeating rhyme
One of the holy bible’s seven deadly sins,
A selfish trait where rich or poor don’t win
Humanities greed grows wild in the willow and weeds
A place in the dark soul, where the compassion was once whole
And the masses swarm to the queen bee hive acting like ravenousness trolls
The capital vices on the hill shine brighter than a congress bill
National debt tweaked as the cardinal sins are leaked
And the hard working honest men are left to pounder and seek
When compromise is needed, instead land mine fields are seeded
The health of the nation sacrificed as the broken train goes to the next station
And on and on go the talking heads, when you just want to go to bed
You can blame the day trader, you can blame his decisions
You can blame the politician, you can blame his religion
But the one to really blame when you feel all that shame
Is the person opposite your eyes view, and that person is you!
